Lessons in Garden Design from an Artist- Preston Montague

10:30am Registration

11:00am Program- Landscape design has roots in classical fine arts training. Understanding the principles and elements of art theory helps with designing experience-rich, evocative landscapes, as does the practice of art. Join Preston Montague for a conversation about other lessons he learned for finding success in the garden through his work producing art throughout his life.

Meetings are the first Wednesday of each month at 10:30-1:00 September through June and are held at the NC State University Club, 4200 Hillsborough St.

Guests are welcome at Monthly Meetings!

Members will receive an email invitation. If you do not receive an invitation, please contact RGC Reservations Committee at rgcreservations@gmail.com. The price for lunch is $25. The “No Lunch” option is $10.

March 3   Monday, 4:30 – 6:00 pm. Rosey Girls Youth Garden Club, Girls Club, 701 N. Raleigh Blvd. Set up at 3:30 pm.

March 9 - 10  Annual SAR Convention. GCNC to host in Raleigh (all districts). Register here.

March 14  Friday, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. JC Raulston Arboretum Winter Garden maintenance, weather permitting.

March 15 Saturday, 10:00 am. 100th Anniversary Event. St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Downtown Raleigh. Members of the Raleigh Garden Club will be marching in the parade to promote our 100th anniversary. Sign up here.

March 19  Tuesday, 10:00 am. Martha Franck Fragrance Garden maintenance, weather permitting.

March 20, Thursday, 12:00 – 1:00 pm. 100th Anniversary Event. Lunchbox Lecture, RGC Women in the Garden and Landscape Industry, by Erica Winston, City of Raleigh Museum

March 24  Monday, 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Environmental Group. Topic: The Wildflower Roadside Program: Challenges with Natives. JCRA Ruby McSwain Education Center.

March 27  Thursday, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Horticulture Group. Tour the Joslin Garden with Helen Yoest, 2431 W. Lake Dr, Raleigh. Weather permitting. Park in the driveway. Lunch afterwards at NOFO Restaurant, 2014 Fairview Rd, Raleigh.

March 30, Sunday 1:00-4:00 pm.  100th Anniversary Event, Isabelle Bowen Henderson Open Garden Day. 213 Oberlin Road, Raleigh.

April 4 Friday 6:00 – 9:00 pm. 100th Anniversary Event: Exhibit opening - Planting Power: 100 Years of the Raleigh Garden Club, City of Raleigh Museum.  Note: the exhibit will be on display starting March 20.

April 7  Monday, 4:30 – 6:00 pm. Rosey Girls Youth Garden Club. Girls Club, 701 N. Raleigh Blvd. Set up at 3:30 pm.

April 17 Thursday 10:00 am – 8:00 pm (by train; start and end in Cary); 2:00 pm in Charlotte (for tour), 100th Anniversary Event: Tour of Elizabeth Lawrence House and Garden.

April 17 Thursday 12 noon – 1:00 pm. Lunchbox Lecture, Exact Title TBD (Lecture about “A hidden gem in the heart of West Raleigh, where history, architecture, and horticulture intertwine”), by Russ Stephenson, City of Raleigh Museum

April 18  Friday, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.Civic Improvement, Earth Day! Tour of Bob and Linda Hatcher’s Yard/Garden, 4114 Carpenter Pond Rd, Durham. Due to road widening and construction of a development across from his property, Bob Hatcher needs to cancel our tour of his yard/garden.

April 19 Saturday 1:00-3:00 pm.Talkin’ Trees – City of Raleigh’s Zach Manor will discuss the city’s Urban Forest Project. This event was planned to coincide with our exhibit at the COR museum

April 25  Friday. Arbor Day Memorial Ceremony. Time and location will be announced in The Leaflet.

April 27-28    GCNC Annual meeting in Winston-Salem.
