Holiday Decorating Projects of the Raleigh Garden Club
The Raleigh Garden Club has been using their design skills to decorate public buildings in the spirit of civic giving ever since the Club’s founding.
Polk House
In late November or early December, the Raleigh Garden Club decorates the historic Polk House for the holiday season. A big Christmas tree under the turreted front porch is a tradition, decorated with early 1900’s style objects. Natural pine swags and a wreath complement the outdoors.
This year decorating will take place on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 10 am.
The Polk House is a Late Victorian home built by Leonidas L. Polk, North Carolina’s first Commissioner of Agriculture and an advocate for agrarian education. The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. It was moved to its current location on Blount Street in Raleigh in 2000.
Transitions LifeCare
Using simple designs and materials, we strive to create a peaceful, pleasing ambience for those residing at and visiting Transitions LifeCare.
In addition to decorating, the Raleigh Garden Club hosts a special holiday luncheon for TLC staff. This year’s luncheon will be Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 11:30-1:30. If you would like to help with the luncheon and/or bring a food item, RGC members can sign up with Maggie.
Transitions LifeCare is a not-for-profit agency providing care and support to those facing the end of life or life-changing illness. It is located at 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh. The Raleigh Garden Club also maintains the Sanctuary Garden at the facility year round.
