PROGRAM: 11:00 am Grow Your Dreams, Grow Your Garden: RGC’s Civic Improvement over 10 Decades
SPEAKER: Erica Winston, Raleigh Garden Club Historian
Erica Winston is a longtime member of the Raleigh Garden Club and is serving her fourth term as Historian. She was a “city kid” when she moved here, and learned gardening at the knees of RGC’s great gardeners. She studied art history years ago and is thrilled to be excavating the lost history and footprints of our Club.
The city of Raleigh has been described as “a garden with a city in the heart of it.” RGC is a major contributor to that appearance over its 10 decades. A story that has been lost in time: you will be astonished at our impact. From landscaping to litter, from horticulture to plant rescues, and from trees to garden tours, RGC’s garden history is brought to life with this well-illustrated talk. These stories of gardeners and gardens inspire us today, rooting us deeply to our city’s past and present.
