Potting up plants for the sale
Many of our plants for sale
come from propagating in our
own gardens over the past
summer - so we know these
plants do well in our area in dry
times.

Plant Sale 2008: The Plant Sale was a HUGE
Success

One of the joys of working the plant sale is seeing
repeat customers who have had success and delight in
the plants purchased in previous years.   Many
customers specifically sought the plants from our
gardens.  One customer had visited the fair grounds for
the last 3 weeks looking for our sale! She thought she
had missed it!  The container gardens were absolutely
gorgeous very profitable.

Our goal this year was to direct our attention to
education during the sale. The Planting Party for the
children was the most successful. One boy about 10
showed no interest in planting until he learned we had a
plant called a “Green Dragon.”  He did plant an
Elephant Ear and a Green Dragon and his face showed
great satisfaction.

Two of our members presented programs for the
shoppers. Rita Mercer demonstrated designing a
container for sun and shade and we sold it!  Thanks
Rita! Helen Yoest had prepared many handouts for
Waterwise gardening which were available during her
program. She spoke with many customers in a very
informal setting. Thanks Helen. The Plant Sale
committee thanks each and every member who helped
make this sale a very pleasurable experience.
We raised money for
community projects with our
annual Spring Plant Sale.
